Boxercise Classes Blog
Hello and welcome to my Boxercsie Blog. This is a chance for people to see how the Boxercise Class is going and any plans I have for the Boxercise Class.Below is my first Boxercise Blog:
I was looking to teach a new Exercise Class and was wondering which Class I should get involved in to teach.
After a bit of research Boxercise Classes stood out at me as a class that many health clubs were running.
So I decided to see what all the fuss was about. On a Tuesday after teaching my Aqua Aerobics Class at Codsall Leisure centre I hung around to take part in the Boxercise Class.
It was all new to me - not teaching fitness but the Boxercise class itself; I didn't know what to expect. I mean I'd boxed before but never took part in a Boxercise Class. So to be honest I was a little nervous. Luckily for me though the guy who I partnered with was very helpful. Without him helping me along I doubt I would have enjoyed the Boxercise Class so much. The instructor wasn't up to much. I hadn't been before and I told him this, so I was expecting a bit more attention from the Instructor. This was not the case. As I say, had it not been for my partner it would not have been such an enjoyable Exercise Class.
I has seen and done enough though to suggest that this Exercise Class would be the class for me to learn and teach. I personally thought what a great workout It was and meeting new people, taking some stress out on the pads were all bonuses.
So I booked myself on the next local course to qualify as a Boxercise Instructor. The Course itself was in Solihull on the 5th of December. The course didn't start till 11am! I got there at 9am!. Eventually other participants also showed then finally we were under way.
First of we started with the basic Boxercise stance. Then stance with movement, then stance movement and punches 1 and 2.
Boxercise Classes consist of 8 punches. As I was to learn. So after learning 1and 2 with movement 3 and 4, 5 and 6 and 7 and 8 punches all with movement. It was time to hit the pads.
The Boxercise course covered...... more to follow tomorrow
This is a follow on from the previous Boxercise Blog
The Boxercise Class course was pretty intense! I mean we were boxing from 11am, had a 20min break around 1pm then boxed staright through till 7pm! The boxercise instructors went through everything. We learned all the punches, how to hold the pads properly, all the teaching points, so we were competent enough to help those who couldn't get the techniques first time in our Boxercise Classes . We learned all the different combinations or possible ones, the different ways in which you can run a Boxercise Class such as coaching style, aerobic style, beasting style and the Circuit Training way of teaching a Boxercise Class. I personally felt the coaching style and beasting style suited me best. Boxaerobics didn't really suit me:) So when I passed on the day, I was very tired after 8 hours or so of boxing. Had a bit of walk to catch the train from Olton station and it was pouring down with rain too! Anway, I managed to get there and get to New Street and then finally home to sunny Wolverhampton.
Now that I was qualified the next thing to do was to promoted the class:) Fortunately for me, I'd been promoting the Boxercise Class since October for a start date on the 5th of January 2010. One of best decsions I'd made was to go on that Boxercise Course. I met some cool people, learned some new skills, talked about what I personally had learned in my experiences in the fitness industry to another person on the course. It was nice to pass on some information that I knew would benefit this person. I didn't mind telling her what I knew as she was operating in Leamington spa and I'm in Wolverhampton:) I'm pleased to say the Boxercise Class is going strong and long may it continue.
I hope you enjoy reading my blogs. Thanks James
